About Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of moment-to-moment, nonjudgmental awareness, cultivated by paying attention. It is a simple process that deepens with consistent application.
Mindfulness has been demonstrated to:
- Improve concentration and focus
- Lower heart rate and blood pressure
- Improve memory
- Foster relaxation
- Increase resilience to stressors
- Reduce experiences of anxiety and depression
About the Series
In this 4-week introduction, you will learn the basics of mindfulness practice and how to employ mindfulness to enhance your life. Each session includes experiential learning, discussion and recommendations for between session practice.
As you employ mindful meditation and supportive breath practices, you will acquire a deeper awareness of the nature of the mind. With consistent practice, you will develop a greater capacity to stay present, redirect unproductive automatic thinking and enjoy improved concentration and relaxation.
Participants will receive a flash drive with session handouts and a 2-CD set of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s guided meditations.
A commitment to at-home practice will be an essential component to realizing the full potential of mindfulness meditation.
